long-standing partnerships with serious institutions
Founded in 1994 at UFRRJ, the LBC focused on the sounds of marine mammals. Years later, we expanded into new areas of ecology, becoming LBEC.
In 2022, LBEC moved to UFRJ, becoming ECoMAR under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Rodrigo Tardin, broadening its interests, adding projects on seabirds and elasmobranchs, then focusing on the conservation of marine predators in Sepetiba, Ilha Grande and the Lakes Region.
Our routine campaigns bring education and science
ECoMAR's differentials
No ECoMAR, conduzimos estudos avançados para compreender as complexas interações nos ecossistemas marinhos, contribuindo para a conservação da biodiversidade marinha.
We are dedicated to protecting whales and dolphins, implementing science-based strategies to ensure the survival of these essential ocean species.
We use cutting-edge technologies to monitor the health of marine environments, providing crucial data for effective conservation policies.
We promote educational programs that inspire communities to value and protect marine resources, cultivating a culture of sustainability.
Our group establishes partnership agreements with research institutes, companies and NGOs interested in the conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems.
